Price increase of edible agricultural products fell last week, with prices of means of production edging up

According to the monitoring of MOFCOM, last week (August 31 to September 6), the national market prices of edible agricultural products rose 0.1% from the previous week, an increase 0.3 percentage points lower than the previous week; market prices of means of production were up 0.5% from the previous week.

 
For edible agricultural products, food and oil prices remained generally stable. The wholesale prices of rice, flour, peanut oil remained the same as last week, and rapeseed oil and soybean oil were up by 0.2% and 0.1% from the previous week (the same below) respectively. Meat prices presented a steady downward trend. The wholesale price of pork stood at 47.91 yuan per kilo, down by 0.2%, lamb down 1.1%, beef basically unchanged compared to the previous week. Poultry was stable with slight decline. The wholesale price of eggs was the same as the previous week and chicken’s price dropped by 0.1%. The prices of aquatic products dipped slightly. The wholesale prices of silver carp, crucian carp, largehead hairtail dropped by 1.4%, 1.3% and 0.8% respectively. A total of 30 types of vegetable’s wholesale price amounted to 4.69 yuan per kilo, up by 0.6%, among which scallions, lettuce, tomatoes rose 7.9%, 7.1% and 5.1% respectively. 6 types of fruit decreased by 0.3%, including grapes and citrus fruits falling 4.2% and 0.7% respectively.
 
For means of production, the prices of basic chemical raw materials rose slightly, including soda ash, sulfuric acid, methanol and polypropylene up by 3.4%, 2.7%, 2.1% and 1.3% respectively. Steel products were sold at higher prices, among which high-speed wire rod, welded steel pipe, screw-thread steel and channel steel rose 0.8%, 0.8%, 0.6% and 0.5% to 4047 yuan, 4305 yuan, 3913 yuan and 4044 yuan per tonne. Rubber prices increased slightly, including synthetic rubber and natural rubber rising by 0.5% and 0.1% respectively. Coal prices experienced moderate fluctuation, as thermal coal was sold at 558 yuan per tonne, up 0.2%, No.2 anthracite lump coal at 894 yuan per tonne, down 0.1%, and coking coal at 746 yuan per tonne, the same as the previous week. The prices of non-ferrous metal also fluctuated, with aluminum down 1.1%, copper and zinc up 0.6% and 0.3% respectively. Small fluctuation was seen in chemical fertilizers, with urea down 0.2%, and NPK fertilizers up 0.2%. The wholesale prices of refined oil fell steadily, with 0# diesel falling by 0.2%, 92 and 95 octane gasoline staying the same as the previous week.
